Outer Sunset

second thoughts

i printed this image, and i just don't like it. i had it on the wall for about 30 minutes but removed it. partly, it feels over processed. the lighting/color is weird, and not in a good way. it also felt very out of place with the rest of the images i was looking at. it was meant to capture a time and place, and it did, but I'm not convinced it's interesting beyond myself. it's lacking connections, patters, soul.

oh and at 4x6, you can't see the blur mentioned below.

first thoughts

I like the composition of this image. There is a lot of color in the housing in this district and the gently rising road leading to the forrested mountain and the twin peaks tower makes it interesting for the eye. I also like how the foreground pole really creates a sense of depth to the photo. The woman on cell phone provides some context of time and social place. I may have over saturated the image in attempt to make it pop more.

technical problems

Unfortunately, the aperture was too wide (f/10) and the focus was on the foreground pole. This left the background too blurry. The photo was taken at ISO 100 at 1/200 so easily could have been given a much narrow aperture setting. Should have gone for no less then f/14, probably should have cranked it to f/22.
